The
Julian Year
Behind Us: 2004
Greetings:
It’s been several years since I wrote this letter. We are still here. We thank
you all for your letters.
Highlights: Visits from Grandparents, speech class with local home school
students, visits with friends in Missouri, good year for gardening, folk
dancing, and Murillo Dixie still being appreciated.
I planted trees and ran a type of grocery cooperative. I built a walk-in freezer
at home and replaced a Thermo King unit pulled with a diesel pick up with an
enclosed trailer with two chest freezers pulled by a Suburban.
Robin stays busy with teaching, sewing, and interior decorating.
Brian purchased a stone house on ten scenic acres about 30 miles east of us. He
is a carpenter in high demand. He visits frequently on weekends when he is home.
Andrew parked a trailer in the backyard for when he’s around, although the house
is often more comfortable. He planted trees, laid carpet, and worked various
construction jobs.
Lydia is completing her last year of high school. She experienced several weeks
of rough tree planting in Minnesota and several weeks of visiting in Ohio. Lydia
is teaching several piano students and puts on quite a recital for students and
friends here at our house. She takes piano lessons from a professor at a local
college. She is honing her dancing and artistic talents.
Joel also planted for a couple weeks with me in Minnesota. He invested his money
in tools and a Trek 8000 and has a good start at a bicycle repair shop in our
carport.
Daniel is a progressing well in school; he keeps Joel on his toes. He’s
supportive and very helpful. We were impressed with his restoring our stools and
making night stands.
Robin and I and Lydia, Joel, and Daniel began to attempt to follow the Biblical
calendar this spring. This calendar has weeks within lunar months.
