Exo 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of
Israel, saying, In the tenth [day] of
this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the
house of [their] fathers, a lamb for an house:
Exo 12:4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his
neighbour next unto his house take [it] according to the number of the souls;
every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.
Exo 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye
shall take [it] out from the sheep, or from the goats:
Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up
until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the
congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we
have turned every one to his own way; and YHWH hath laid on him the iniquity of
us all.
Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his
mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her
shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Isa 53:8 He was taken from prison
and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut
off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he
stricken.
Isa 53:9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his
death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.
Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased YHWH to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he
shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of YHWH shall prosper in his hand.
Jon 1:17 Now YHWH had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Mat 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and
Pharisees answered him, saying, Teacher, we would see a sign from thee.
Mat 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An
evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be
given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet:
Mat 12:40
for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale; so shall
the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
I put together these passages and present the case that the selection of the lamb on the tenth day of Aviv parallels the day of the Last Supper, and that the period "until the fourteenth day of the same month" parallels a three day and night period that Messiah was in prison and judgment under Pilate in Jerusalem. The 14th was when Messiah was crucified.
This chronology allows for a single anointing for burial and multiple entries into Jerusalem. It takes away the confusion of Passover having arrived (Mar 14:12), yet not arrived (Joh 12:1). It provides enough time for all the events recorded when Messiah was being held by Pilate. It allows for the events of the burial to happen at night. Finally, it provides an answer to the Sign of Jonah that is literal and that is prophesied in the Torah.
Messiah, YHWH manifested as a man, came as the Lamb that was slain. The original Passover was just a foreshadowing of a great final Passover in which redemption was not offered just to those in the individual homes marked with lamb's blood, but to the whole world by the Lamb's blood that he placed on the tree.
