Testimony: On account of me

On account of me Revelation 3:18
Examples from the past  
 
As we looked more closely at the words used for "Buy of me..." in Revelation 3:18 we found that "Buy" means "Go to market and buy" and "of" can mean "on account of" from the word "para" as we see below:

G3844 παρά para

A primary preposition; properly near, that is, (with genitive case) from beside (literally or figuratively), (with dative case) at (or in) the vicinity of (objectively or subjectively), (with accusative case) to the proximity with (local [especially beyond or opposed to] or causal [on account of]).

I see that "on account of" makes more sense than other possible renderings, such as "Go to market and buy near me" or "Go to market and buy from beside me." 

Comparing the "on account of" interpretation with other verses gives us a greater understanding of what will happen when we do things on account of the Messiah.  The following texts are translated "for my sake" but the Greek word is "heneka" and means:  "Of uncertain affinity; on account of: - because, for (cause, sake), (where-) fore, by reason of, that."

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. (or "on account of me")

Mat 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake ("on account of me") shall find it.

Mar 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake ("on account of me"), and the gospel's, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
 
As we consider buying the gold and white raiment on account of the Messiah, these texts offer us special encouragement for we know we will be falsely accused and persecuted, etc. because we have done these things for His sake.  But we should not let anything disturb us or cause us to think we have done wrong when we are merely carrying out Yahuah Saviour's instructions.  Whatever we do for His sake will bring temporary trials followed by long term rewards.  This gives us reason to rejoice in our trials!
